The bowline knot won\u2019t come undone when you pull the rope. The fisherman\u2019s knot is good for holding onto a piece of rope or tying a hook. The figure eight knot looks like the number \u201c8.\u201d The square knot is easy to undo, because it has a \u201csafety latch,\u201d but it takes practice to undo it right.
