What Bible should Christians get for their Jewish friends?

People have been asking in chat about what Bible to get for a Jewish friend.  Here are some suggestions from our Scholar in Residence Rich Robinson, who also worked on two Jewish Bibles himself (Complete Jewish Bible, and Tree of Life Bible).

How to help Christians choose:

If the Jewish friend is Orthodox, or has read a lot of the Tanakh before, that it might be more comfortable for them to transition with the Jewish study Bibles, which also have good resources for them to understand the Jewishness of the New Testament.

For modern Jews who are not familiar with the Bible, they will be best served by ESV and NIV (especially if the Christian would read along with the Jewish friend).
